Altered Photo Artistry Class $40.00 Instructor: Beth Wheeler Please Note: This class is designed for those with no experience with Photoshop. Bargello Quilts - Creating Waves of Color Class $40.00 Instructor: Eldred Royset Foerde Bargello quilts have long been a favourite of mine, ever since they first caught my eye with their dramatic, sweeping curves, enticing me to conquer the mystery of their construction. As it turned out, the mystery was quite simple, and the quilts are also relatively quick to make as the design lends itself very well to strip piecing. In this class you will learn to sew bargello style quilts using strip piecing technique. The main project will teach you the basics of constructing the quilt top and have suggestions for quilting. We will also discuss fabric/colour choices. A couple more projects will show you a few of the many variations of the design, and you will get to try various construction methods to see which ones you prefer. It is preferable that you know beforehand how to cut fabric using a rotary cutter and ruler, to sew with a consistent seam allowance on your sewing machine, and generally how to layer, baste and quilt. Taking the Mystery Out Of Computers Class $40.00 Instructor: Diane Harman-Hoog This is not a class for tekkies. This class will provide you with quick tips and methods to use the computer for your quilting and communication needs. You will learn more about printing, PDF files, Zip files and how to move around your computer and applications. This is not going to be a hard class. The class assumes that you have a PC with office software (like Microsoft Word or Works), a printer, and some kind of simple graphics software. I can tell you how to make your scanner work if you want and also how to get those pictures out of your camera and what to do with them when you do. Altered Photo Artistry II - More Explorations Class $40.00 Instructor: Beth Wheeler and Lori Marquette More than just flowers, you can alter any photo: landscape, still life, architectural elements, animals�you name it! We'll explore more techniques for altering photos and creating large Altered Photo quilts (up to 32" x 44") from your 8 1/2"-wide printer. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Photoshop. If you have used photoshop you should start your Altered Photo Artistry journey here. Altered Photo Artistry - Portraits Class $40.00 Instructor: Beth Wheeler Join Beth and Lori, authors of Altered Photo Artistry as we explore various ways to turn a snapshot into a "sketch" portrait, print it on fabric, and enhance it with free-motion stitching for color and texture. Begin with a favorite snapshot of a person or pet, then we'll use Photoshop Elements (CD in the back of our book Altered Photo Artistry) to turn the snapshot into a "sketch" portrait worthy of a fine frame. No special equipment is necessary, just a basic camera (film or digital), computer, inkjet printer, and sewing machine. Basic sewing (sewing a seam, dropping the feed dogs, winding a bobbin, and threading the machine) and computer skills (opening the application, opening a file and printing from the document) are helpful.
